Cynthia Mathis is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  She provides psychotherapy services for children, adolescents, adults, and families, in addition to facilitating social skills groups. Ms. Mathis specializes in working with children and adolescents on the autistic spectrum and with other developmental delays.  She also treats children and adults struggling with sensory integration, anxiety, depression, ADHD, divorce, sexual abuse, adjustment disorders, and parenting and relational issues.


Her psychotherapy practice is designed to provide a supportive environment for clients to increase relatedness, develop positive coping skills, enhance both emotional and social growth, and to improve family and peer relationships. In working with clients, Ms. Mathis uses her systemic training and employs a variety of other treatment approaches to help clients reach their goals, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, play and expressive therapies, and the Greenspan DIR (Floortime) model.Ms. Mathis also works to collaborate with schools or other professionals clients may be receiving services from to facilitate a positive treatment outcome.
